Martha Argerich has long
been hailed as one of the greatest and most uniquely imaginative pianists. Her
commercial recordings span almost 100 CDs and in 2006 Martha received her third
Grammy Award. Argerich has also been thankfully generous in allowing radio and
television broadcasts of her concerts and many of these non-commercial
recordings survive to this day. These live recordings attest to
Argerich’s tireless inventiveness and at times her performances are even
more inspired than in her commercial recordings.
This website aims to
catalogue Argerich's recordings, and provide background information wherever
possible. It also intends to provide details of forthcoming concert broadcasts,
so that Argerich devotees can further enjoy her artistry. There are undoubtedly
many recordings not yet included in this database. Any additional information
related to performances already listed (such as concert reviews, photos,
scanned concert programs etc) or recordings not yet catalogued would be most
welcome.
Please also note that this
website is maintained by an admirer of Argerich's playing, not Martha herself,
and it is not possible to contact Martha through this website.
